Director & Cinematographer
Biog
Working both as a cinematographer and director, Anabelle specialises in sensitive, visually striking and thought-provoking films that help understand the world around us and the human condition.
Anabelle’s projects have been recognised by BAFTA, Sandford St.Martin and Mipcom awards.
After completing her Arabic degree, much of which was spent living on a houseboat on the Nile, Anabelle started her career at BBC Current Affairs. Since then she’s used her journalistic nous to work with A-list talent, investigating subjects on a large scale. Her work includes single films for Channel 4 - Prue and Danny's Death Road Trip: a double-headed polemic about assisted dying and George Clarke's Council House Scandal: a personal journey into the woeful state of social housing. As well as series Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne (Hulu / BBC3), following the model, actor and activist exploring sexuality and gender around the world.
Anabelle also has extensive experience in retrospective films. From true crime stories like Megan Thee Stallion vs Tory Lanez: Five Shots (Discovery + / HBO) which delved into the devastating impact of misogynoir and online toxicity, to landmark history films like NASA: Triumph & Tragedy (BBC2) looking back at 50 years of epic NASA space travel.
And lastly Anabelle has considerable experience with unfolding narrative projects such as on smash hit Drive to Survive (Netflix) relaying all the drama and politics of F1’s trackside, Extraordinary Twins (ITV) about the difficult decisions parents of conjoined twins have to make and the BAFTA-nominated Operation Live (C5) following every snip and suture of a 2-hour operation.
As a seasoned cinematographer, Anabelle is adept at creating beautifully lit master IVs, shooting actuality with primes and has an array of tools in my kit from sliders to tilt shift lenses to produce a cinematic look and feel.
